intel also has the x18-m SSD series (1.8" form factor), but these seem pretty scarce. does anyone know when they're releasing these drives in G2 version with TRIM? also, these can be used in regular laptops if i find the 1.8" to 2.5" adapter for it right?

As far as I am aware they have been out for a while now.
They might be sold out if you don't find any though. -

I haven't seen any X18-M G2's. As far as I know, there's only G1 versions out.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! -

yeah. the gen1 works just well, so don't wait too long. maybe wait after CES, there might be some new info/new prices after. other than that, do what you like.

oh yeah and just to be sure, these 1.8" drive has the exact same voltage pins and power requirement as the 2.5" ones right? they will also fit in the 2.5" slot of notebook drives?
-
davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
no. the 1.8" ones have a different connector. microsata it is. it's a combined power+data connector.
there's an adapter existing, looks like this:
sata has a 5V connection. microsata a 3.3V one. -
Is anyone aware of a place you can actually buy the 160GB 1.8" G1 drive?
Any news in the last couple of weeks on actual availability of the G2 models? -
I don't know what the deal is... I've been checking for them daily, and no one seems to have them. I'm guessing they must be coming out soon given that so many online retailers have it listed (albeit as 'out of stock').
-
Well, I hope it is soon. I am planning on buying a number of Thinkpad T410s' when they become available, but that plan is dependent on the 160GB 1.8" drives also being available.
-
Looks like they're now in stock at a bunch of places. Woo hoo
-
The G1 or G2s?
-
They appear to be the G2's according to the model numbers at some available sites. This is great news if true! Now if Lenovo would actually start shipping the T410s!!
