    1.83ghz core 2 duo vs. 2.0 ghz core duo

    Well, given benchmark gains of about 5% on the Core 2 Duo's over their Core 1 Duo counterparts, the 1.83GHz C2D ~ 1.92GHz C1D. So the Core Duo would be faster. But better? Depends on if you care about 64bit processing, really. Both will be very fast processors for a while.

    Yeah the speed difference is very small, but I would just get the C2D because its 64-bit, which will come in handy in the future.

    Why not go for the T7200 Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz versus the Core Duo 2.0 Ghz. The extra 2 megs of in the cache for a total of 4mb should provide for faster performance and C2D gives you 64bit technology.

    There are very few people would would actually see the difference between a Core Duo and a Core 2 Duo. What are you going to do with the machine?
