wow nice find dude
-
Lol this is not a notebook HDD it is the Velociraptor. The voltage it uses is different, it is thicker than a typical notebook drive and the SATA connector not aligned. It is a 2.5" drive however but 2.5" is prevalent in servers which this is based off of.
-
Even though that's a 2.5" HDD, it's not designed for notebook use. The HDD requires a 3.5" form factor heat sink, and can be used in desktops.

your palm will catch fire even if you can successfully install this drive into your laptop.
-
not really... although some sort of active cooling system is advised
Even if you can connect it up it will not work in 99.999% of notebooks, since they don't have a 12V line, which is required for desktop hard drives. Not to mention the fact that the velociraptor although 2.5" is about 50% thicker than a standard notebook hd... so will not fit anyway.
this question has been asked so much times aleady lol
this sort of drive is really only recommend for things like slimline servers, although SAS drives are more suited to that.
-
Darn. Well, it was an exciting thread title.
-
actually it runs very cool without any sort of cooling.
-
Are you sure the connector is not alligned?
AFAICan see it's as any 2.5" connector at the exact same place?
-
It's too thick to fit in the standard laptop, guys.
There has already been tons of threads on this. -
I got space for a 1.6cm thick drive in my notebook
So i wouldn't say all standard notebooks, but almost
And yeah there are a ton of topics about this, but poster ddn't see it was a velociraptor, as it is sold as a 10k rpm server-harddrive on that site
