ok, since you're obviously buying full sized laptop, you'll have 9mm hdd slot, so you can put any ssd in it.

m4 is great choice, also you could consider samsung 830, but from the two I have, I prefere m4 because only thing worse than 830 is sequential write, and i really dont have another data source fast enough to saturate even that.

I bought 2 128GB Crucial M4's - One for my Alienware M11x R3 and the other for my desktop. Very happy.

So I'm hearing that the m4 is a good choice.
I'm curious if it is going to be the same size as a standard notebook HDD and just pop in, or will there be brackets involved?
Do those brackets tend to come with the SSDs?

The M4 is the same size as a standard notebook HDD, so yes, you just pop it in.

The problem mentioned above only applies to superthin notebooks which use thinner than normal HDDs.

+1 for the Crucial. It is the best SSD I've ever have owned.

Crucial M4 is a stander sized 2.5 drive. No brackets or anything involved.

Just don't forget to update your firmware when you get your drive.

depending on notebook you get. You're not getting ultra portable one, so it is going to be the same (9mm height), there are also 7mm disks, but m4 can be converted very easily to a 7mm one by removing a spacer it has if some day you decide to transfer it to notebook that requires that.
