MLC is not nearly as good as SLC! MLC has an estimated lifespan around that of traditional drives because of shortcuts that were made.

wow that's well gd. a 30gb fast ssd for only $300 (on newegg)! i wudn't worry about write cycles cos its 30gb, meaning it'll take far longer to write out the drive.

So if a 128GB MLC is 699, a 128 SATA II SLC must be say 2200 or so?

the slc version (which has faster writes and will last longer) maxes at 60gb and it costs $1,116.40 from ewiz.com

I realize that, owning a SATAII Sandisk 64gb myself (I think these run around 1400 bucks), but I was pointing out that a 128gb SATAII SLC SSD would probably run around 2200.

BTW, current SLCs max out at 64 gb not 60 gb. I believe Mtron is supposed to come up with a 128 gb SLC "soon" though.
