I keep reading conflicting results on this... my raid 0 needs to be at what stripe size for best performance?
I am gaming and doing random things on my computer... I am leaning towards the 64 stripe size for overall improved performance... opinions?

For gaming the smaller size seems to work good, I think there is not that much real world difference. I have read the larger size helps with media file activates.

In general, the more you push config options 'to the edge' the more likely you will be to have problems up to and including stripe failure and data set loss.
It may be best to stay in the middle of the envelope, especially since you are choosing to run raid 0 with no battery backed cache or intelligent controller. -
Yeah, I chose 64 stripe size instead of the 128. From what I read, the 64 stripe size is the best of both worlds.
-
Well, for whatever reason, my computer HATES the 64k stripe size... it was running a lot faster on the 128, so I am reformatting back to that.

the hardware stripe size on a raid set should be closely matched to the default read-ahead values of the OS and file system.......
128 or 64 Stripe Size...
