Hey guys, I was told that there is a 13.3 panel FHD (1080p), so do you guys have any info on it? Is it real? Are we going to be happy with the thinkpad X1?

So if you guys have any info about it do please share.

    If its unicorns....

I don't think we'll ever get that out of Lenovo. Looks like Sony is the only one to offer a 13" 1080p laptop.

Nah I was talking about aftermarket panels.

@fred I dont like that much of a res too in such a small package, but this could be something that turns other eyes to the thinkpad x1, if there is a screen off course

The Sony Vaio Z old and new refresh both support FHD on 13.1". I'm sure there is a manufacturer producing at least a limited number of 13.3" models that would work for a after market upgrade.

This is the machine that uses such a screen. Find out what model the screen is. Fitting it and making it work electrically is another story.

There is a problem, that panel is 13.1 not 13.3, and lets pray that the connectors and cable length are the same, not to mention the bios.

thanks for the input guys, I do think the screen is just unicorns, but it would be good if it really existed

So is there a way to install a 13.1 panel onto a 13.3 laptop?

Several factors in my mind are:
    1. The cable. Will the one used by 13.3 be compatible with the 13.1 panel?
    2. The frame. How can I actually install the screen panel?

Any further thoughts? The screen is the only thing I want from Z2.

Thinkpad X1? The connector is not compatible, and the physical size difference won't work in your favor either.

So I did some research, and here is what I found:
    AUO B133XW01 V4
    B133XW01 V4 Specification & Datasheet download - Panelook.com

Yes again it is by AUO. This panel has 1366 x 768 reion. BUT, it has the best color so far I found, which is 72% NTSC. It is said 72% NTSC is enough to cover the sRGB color space.

Now I am considering getting one for my ASUS U36SD.
And last summer I installed an AUO B156HW01 V7 on my ASUS N53SV. That panel features FHD, and 95% NTSC, which I personally believe is unbeatable in the market.

Back to the 13.3'' panel, ebay has it for less than $100.

MAKE SURE IT IS "V4" AT THE END OF THE MODEL NUMBER. OTHER VERSIONS IN THIS SERIES DO NOT HAVE THAT GOOD COLOR PERFORMANCE.

ALSO, BEFORE YOU BUY, CHECK WITH THE SELLER THAT THE PANEL IS OF THIS SPECIFIC MODEL, NOT SOME "REPLACEMENT PANEL". I USED TO MAKE A MISTAKE BUYING A REPLACEMENT PANEL FOR AN AUO PANEL BUT ENDED UP GETTING AN MEDIOCRE LG PANEL.

Will the LVDS cable even carry a FHD signal to the display panel? FHD requires both LVDS channels, where notebooks that have panels less than 1600x900 have only one LVDS channel present in the physical cabling.

So, I'm saying that if you are going to swap the panel out for a FHD version, you're probably (97% sure) going to have to swap in a different LVDS cable to get it to work.

Do you mean something looks like this?

This one is from my ASUS N53SV. When I changed the panel I did change the cable.
