Hi guys i just bought a used 1330 with 160 gb hd 7200rpm. How much would it cost to upgrade to 320gb. I dont mind if its 5400 it'll prob be cheaper.

The 320Gb 5400rpm drives are about $160-180 on newegg.
I would wait a few weeks though. Hitachi just released a 320gb 5400rpm generation 4 drive last week. Once that hits the market, the samsung and western digital 320Gb drives should drop a bit in price.
The 320Gb 5400rpm drive will be slightly faster than your 160Gb 7200.

how can it be faster?
-
Higher densities = faster.
-
The 320gb 5400rpm drive has a much higher data density than the 160gb 7200 rpm drive. The 320gb 5400rpm drive is the same speed as the 200Gb 7200rpm harddrive. The 200GB drive is slightly faster than the 160Gb 7200rpm drive, thus the 320Gb 5400rpm drive is faster than the 160Gb 7200rpm drive.
Here is a chart for comparison

Lithus said it but I am bored so for anyone who cares, more explanation. Density the amount of data stored in a given space. If you have 320GB and 160GB stored in the same area. The 320GB is 100% more data in the same space than the 160GB (over simplified). An example if on a football field we set up two lanes, one with a flag (data) every 10yds and in the second every 5yds. If the runner in the first runs at 20mph and the other runs 10mph. Who will get more flags in any give amount of time? Neither they will get the same, correct? How is that so? Reread, so that is the same with HDD. And that is the how and why. Too much time on my hands I need to get a hobby!

thats soo coool thx

Any chance they benchmarked the temps aswell for the chart above K-Tron? This would be nice if they did as im after a 7200rpm drive next.
I mean whats the point of 70mb/s if your HD is on fire. Heat will play a good part in the HDD's life.
