    with the exception of price, and size. will both of these drives be an adequate upgrade from an 80gb 5400 toshiba?

    160gb will be enough for me, but if the 7k200 is just so much faster, ill buy that.

    what do you all think?

    7200.2 is about 165$
    7k200 is about 230$

    Study the Tom's hardware 2.5" HDD charts. They are pretty comprehensive but doesn't include the 7K200. However, you can get a good understanding of the 7K200's performance by going down this forum a few pages to here.

    Either of those drives is going to be a big upgrade.

    The 160GB drive @ $165 = $1.03/GB
    The 200GB drive @ $230 = $1.15/GB

    So, the 160GB drive is the better deal but not by much.

    tough decision, i wonder if its worth the extra 60$ to me.

    the 7k200 will for sure be faster in the long run. Probably not by much though

    With the 200's your getting 186GB with the 160's your getting 149gb so actually..

    160 = $1.11/GB
    200 = $1.24/GB

    $0.13 cents per real GB of storage difference. Personally I'll pay a bit more for the extra storage and still keeping the speed.
