Was wondering if anyone has a 23" screen, and how 1920 resolution looks on it? I'd guess it looks fine/nice but I've never had a screen that big, so I wouldnt know.. Hopefully it doesnt look grainy?

The pixel density is similar to a 15.6" with 1366x768 resolution. Do you find that grainy? some people do but others like it.

You would probably have a higher viewing distance for such a big monitor so that you would see it as less grainy.

I don't have a 23'' 1920x1080 monitor, but I have a 24'' Samsung, same resolution. Is it too big? Well, that depends on the view of the individual user, I have never owned a monitor that big before I bought it, it took me a while to get used to, but eventually you will grow to love it!! And I don't my screen grainy at all.

I have a 23" 1920x1080 screen and the resolution in fine. Its not grainy at all and everything is a resonable size so you can read it. You still have plenty of space to work in. If you want a higher resolution you will most likely end up spending a lot more money.

nah, I don't need or want a higher resolution, its just that any higher than 1900 resolution will be a pain in the behind for my GPU, so was hoping that 1900 looked good on a 23" screen. Well, it seems that its fine so I'm happy :)

Grainy? I'm not sure what this means. But as resolution increase your ability to detect grain decreases. You most likely don't need it on smaller screens (like laptops) but marketing is a powerful thing.

In any event, there are a few professional areas (and a few enthusiasts?) that actually require it.

I think he's referring to the ability to see the pixels, which does diminish as resolution increases for a set screen size. Personally, I find that 1920x1080 on a 21.5" screen is good, and that resolution on a 23" screen is too low, but again, it's all personal preference. Take a look at a similar monitor at a local electronics store and see for yourself.

Hehe, I'm using a 15.6 inch screen right now with 1280x800 and it seems fine to me so I suppose that answers my question :D

I may be wrong on this but 1280x800 is typically 15.4" because of the 16:10 ratio.

    you are probably right :)

anyway I talked to a friend of mine with a slightly old 22" screen with 1600 resolution, and he seems happy with that so I'm sure a 23" with 1920 will be fine :D

I have a full hd 23 inch external lcd monitor and it looks totaly awesome. Everything is sharp and eventhough I had to get used to the size (I used a 15 inch laptop screen for almost 3 years) I already want to get a 24 or even 27 inch monitor ^^

It sounds nice, however unfortunately there is no refurbished/used one for sale I can find anywhere, which means I would have to buy one at a price 100 pounds more than the syncmaster. I'm probably going on an exchange year to the states, and don't have that much money left over from buying my laptop.

Buying anything in UK is a pain -.- any of you brits out there know a good deal for a good screen? Something in the range of 20-23 inches.

Thanks crimsoned, however the prices say "exc vat", so they are a bit more expensive than that in the end. Still tho, some of the best prices I've seen yet, tyvm ;)

Thats because there is nothing wrong with full high def on a 23 inch monitor(edited). I may have bad eyes but I sit at a very close distance (60 cm give or take) and it looks very sharp.

Btw, I just liked the asus logo ^^ you should see my self made alienware head on the back of my acer xD (pulled it off, now I have ugly dry glue canyons all over my laptop, which is why I ordered a roccat laptop skin ^^)

I'm using Dell U2311 now, picture is perfect. By the way, are you aware of any cable available for connecting the HDMI output port from my PC to displayport input on this monitor?

    Thanks!
