I am looking for a laptop 1GB RAM, under $30, with specs below:
    PC2700, 333MHx, 200 pin.
and came across a ProMOS brand. Does brand really matter or is it alright as long as it matches the specs?

Download and use CPU-Z to have a complete list of specification of your ram module. Use it as reference. I personally don't pay attention to brand name in ram.

    cheers ...

Brand does not matter much at all.
Look in particular for Lifetime warranty. If it has a lifetime warranty and the specs you want than it is good for you.
