Are there any graphic users out there? I was told programs like PS, can benefit with 2GB over 1. Discuss.![]()

I used PS CS (not CS2). When I used PS CS for the first time, it loads up really slow, becau8se my notebook had 256 MB, so I upgraded another 512, total of 768 MB. That really help. When I upgraded to 1 Gb, i didnt noticed any differences. So yeah, if you can afford the 2gb, go ahead, but not, then 1 gb should do enough.

It will vary greatly on how you use PS and which version of PS you have and what plugins you use. 2GB RAM is cheap... I would just do it. CS2 will eat any amount of RAM you can throw at it.

i use photoshop cs2, flash, dreamweaver, illustrator, fireworks
and i have 512 of ram
so 1gb should be just fine, 2 gb=kick a$$ -
Depends on what you are doing. Cropping photos and such probably won't matter as much as applying filters and such.

Well nothing too intensive but I do like to run PS CS and say another program like Illustrator or even Macromedia ones at the same time.

I have 2GB and use PS. I think it helps the load speed. I only have to wait 10sec for the program to load.

Hi,
I am a designer who uses Photoshop a lot, I have a it running on a 512mb PC and 1GB laptop and have never had any trouble with either.
I think that the 1gb should be plenty -
I think the original question is will there be a difference between 1gb of ram vs 2gb of ram. I think the answer is not much. (at least imo)
But the question is hard to answer without knowing specifically what you are doing in ps. If your cropping a 2mp picture- 1gb should be great... if your cropping a 8mp picture or larger- well..... you might benefit from 2gb of ram.
"regular" use is subjective to every individual user. **That being said: I think in general - 1gb of ram should be enough for most average users... if your a heavy photoshop user, a professional photographer - and a graphic artist who uses the extreme and advance features of photoshop - with heavy filter usage, 2gb+ or going to better** -
ya im tempted to keeping this extra 1gb stick but i dont need it i know, its a waste...so ill refund it.

I use Paintshop Pro (yeah yeah, what can I say, I don't want to spend a fortune for a package I don't use THAT often) and Vegas 6, and 2GB works much better than 1GB did for my old machine, of course the 2Ghz Core Duo vs 2.4Ghz P4 might have something to do with that too!
1GB or 2GB ram for Graphic users (Photoshop, etc)
