I currently have 256. I have a v2000z.

As long as you aren't doing any really heavy processing tasks (video encoding, CAD, Maya, etc), a 512 stick will bring you up to 768, which is probably enough for your v2000z.

Ditch the stick of 256mb pc2700 and get a 1GB stick of Corsair Value Select DDR400.
PC3200/DDR400 will make your laptop run better. And 1GB really makes the system run better. 768mb is okay, but you will be stuck at ddr333 speeds. -

I agree with alexjl, get the 1GB stick...I would recommend this over 2x512MB due to if you want more later you can just add another stick. With the extra memory you could leave in your old stick, but you will be running at DDR333 speeds. You will notice a big difference with the 1GB stick.

Dude, you really should go for the 1GB RAM stick, it is much faster, and also your Presario v2000z supports up to 2GB of RAM, and it's probably cheaper to buy a 1Gb stick rather tahn two 512MB.

Just like I've been told many times, you never can have enough RAM. Go with the 1GB

I agree with alexji, ditch DDR333 and get OCZ DDR400 CAS 2.5 Memory from newegg, and it is on sale right now ( very cheap 512MB for $39) or better yet 1GB DDR400.
It improves the lappie in all aspects including Video.
1GB or 512?
