I have a Hitachi Ultrastar in my external and it weighs say 400grams.
The enclosure I made out of stainless steel, and weighs about 2 lbs, but i can imagine a lightweight enclosure like something you can find on Newegg would be lighter.

If size and weight are more important than money Lacie has a 2.5" ext w/ 500GB Samsung drives and eSATA - just get 2 :)
