I'd like to put a 1tb ssd ( http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-SD8SN8U-1T00-1122-X400-M-2-SSD/dp/B0194MV300/) in a Samsung Notebook 9 ( http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-NP900X3L-K06US-Notebook-Laptop-Silver/dp/B01AWGXN00/).
Any reason this wouldn't work or would be a bad idea?

The photo here if the inside of the NP900X3L shows what looks like an M.2 2280 SSD so the size is OK. However, check your notebook to confirm that the current SSD is SATA (ie same as the Sandisk SSD you linked to) and not PCIe.

I don't yet own the notebook; I'm trying to make sure I can upgrade to 1tb and that performance will be decent before I buy.
I'd have preferred a PCIe interface, but one can't have everything, especially at that weight. -

Seems like that model is an M.2 SATAIII derivative.
What is your intended usage of this system? That will help us determine if the 'performance will be decent' for you.
Off the top of my head? This is a Samsung model with an M.2 (suboptimal) storage interface... I'd be looking elsewhere already just based on those two details. -

I don't think that was called for?
All I asked was for necessary information. Haven't recommended the beast you think I will (yet).

Most uses would be low power type things, web browsing, watching movies, etc. I'd also use Lightroom for photo editing.
The main appeal of the machine is low weight (under 2 pounds) and a high quality screen, with a decent keyboard and trackpad. -
Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
@richarddd if you like it, get it. Though I usually advise convertibles and/or business-class notebooks. (=

@Starlight5 business-class notebooks tend to be heavier than I want.
I haven't really looked at convertibles, but the Samsung seems to compare favorably on weight and features. I'll have to spend some more time looking.TomJGX likes this.
