Hi,
I was wondering, does a hard drive with the specs I mentioned in the title (2 TB, 7200 rpm, 2.5 inch, Sata 2 or better) even exist nowadays? I was thinking of something like that to replace my 500 GB hard drive in my M4600...doing too much video editing in HD, I don't even have the space to handle one single clip on the internal drive with all the stuff I have in parallel!
I found some that have everything except they are in 5400 rpm...
Thanks for your help!
EDIT: actually my laptop imposes 9.5mm height...so i may reformulate my question: I could not find even a 1 TB 7200 rpm 2.5 inch 9.5mm height hdd...do you have an idea where to find it?

no idea on 9.5mm as im old skool but there is a 1gb 7200rpm 2.5inch available Seagate 1TB Constellation.2 SATA-600 7200RPM 64MB 2.5" Hard Drive (ST91000640NS) - dabs.com

The Seagate Constellation is for servers, not notebooks. -

There's a few 1TB drives out there in 2.5". Some of the drives will be 9.5mm tall, others will be 12.5mm tall. I haven't seen any 2TB drives and even if there are, they will probably be meant for servers and will be 15mm tall.

The Hitachi drive would be more ideal for everyday needs, though. -
Haven't even heard anything of 2TB laptop drives yet, there are plenty of 1TB ones it seems, got a hitachi 1tb portable, 2.5" no idea on thickness, performance is good too, around 70-80mb/s write over usb3, which i like

No such thing as a 2TB 7200RPM 2.5" drive for notebooks. As a matter of fact I don't know of a 2TB 2.5" drive period.
If you don't move around much, I'd suggest utilizing the eSATA port on your notebook with an external 3.5" desktop drive. Not only will you get a lot of capacity for your money, but you'll also get better performance. A drive connected via eSATA will be identically fast as it would be internally. It's an underrated technology without a doubt.
My preferred combo is a Thermaltake BlackX Duet and a Western Digital Caviar Black drive; WD Blacks have excellent performance and a 5-yr warranty.
If you do move around, consider a 2.5" external drive. The WD Passport 2.5" drives w/ USB 3.0. -

I believe there is one 2T|B drive. But it is 5400rpm and 15mm thick! Fitting it in some notebooks might just work with a very tight fit. Then again HDD's can get pretty warm. If the fit is tight then the drive is likely to overheat.
I was considering this as a replacement ODD drive but re considered due to overheating concerns! -
We barely have 1TB drives in 9.5mm, let alone them being 7200RPM, it'll be a long while before we have one that's double the capacity for any reasonable price.
I wouldn't trust that much data in something easy to drop anyway x: -

Wow, imagine that. This sort of drive was probably designed for servers, being as it's 15mm tall. -
Were getting close but, first rendition we can use/see may be 12mm and even when it is 9.5mm it will be 5400 rpm.

at the rate SSD space is increasing we'll probably get 2tb SSD sooner than a thin HDD for laptops... theres already 1tb SSDs coming out, yes they are expensive, but considering i bought my SSD roughly a year ago, as well as on the cheap it cost me almost 1£/1GB, now new ones go for 50p/1GB and less, could pick up a second hand one for much less i would think, so 2tb SSD seems more plausible for laptops at this point, i would think.
scratch that theres already 2tb SSD claims, it is just the matter of when they hit the shelves. HDD tech just isn't going as quickly anymore, SSDs are just so much quicker... plus it isn't easy stuffing so much data on a tiny 2.5" disk... -
