    2 differnt size n make RAM's, is it ok?or wil there b a problem?

    I have recently installed a transcend ddr-400 1GB RAM for ma old PC. it had 256 mb RAM ddr-400 of some other manufacturer(i havent checked but its not transcend).
    will it damage the 256 mb ram now?
    no problem so far
    The system is amd sempron 1.6ghz, 1.2 gb ram

    That's actually exactly the configuration in my old Averatec: one 1GB DDR SODIMM and one 256MB DDR SODIMM. No problems, just be aware that dual channel mode is disabled (which is also not really a concern).

    correct to have dual channels you need 2 identical ram sticks preferably from a matched pair package
