This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Nice find.

    I recently read an article arguing that the speed at which platter densities increase has really slowed down. Of course, TDK which is featured in the article you link to is one of the top platter manufacturers.

    Looks like the largest single platters we can hope for until August '10 or so are 640GB (3.5" form factor) and 375GB (2.5" form factor).
