Recently I just got my Toshiba Laptop. It comes with Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHz Clock Speed and ATI Mobility HD 4650.

About the CPU Clock Speed.. Is there any way to overclock it to 2.20 / 2.26 GHz or above ?

just in case "just got it" "is there a way?".

my annoying backquestion: is there a need? are you aware what the bottlenecks of your system are, is it the cpu? is there gain by overclocking?

but yeah, it can be done, and it can be fun / interesting.

i prefer downclocking on laptops. cooler legs and more batterylife.

Can I overclock it to 2.26 GHz or above without harming my Laptop ?

    Sadguy,

not trying to discourage you, but what can you possibly gain with a 6% overclock?

Except for 'gaining' 3:36 (Min:Sec) per hour - if the CPU could be fed at 100% consistently. :)

I would even guess that you won't notice this overclock in normal use (except for less battery run time).

    Cheers!

Yes I agree that 2.26 is not much of an overclock.

I would say you should overclock around 30%.
It's safe as long as the temp is ok.

    I ran my T7300 @ 2.6ghz (2ghz stock) for a few months and it's fine. Right now I upgraded to a T8100 and I'm running that at 2.7ghz (2.1 stock).

Take it to 2.5ghz or more, otherwise it's not worth the effort ;)

The thing is OCing is never a guarantee, some CPUs can hit that speed, some can't. As davepermen stated, the real question is what purpose are you using a laptop for that you require an overclock?

I play games on my Laptop. I want to OC my CPU so that I could gain a little more performance in running games.

    2.13 GHz = 2.40-2.60 GHz Is this ok ?

don't worry, you don't need any reason to want to see higher cpu speed number than what it should ..LOL
If only my laptop is easy to OC, I'd put that number "3" GHz right away :(

anyway, have you tried to OC the cpu with tool from ATI ?
small chance it'll work, but worth to try first

As long as you monitor the temperature I think you'll be fine OC'ing to the limit.

    Yes.

Have you tried overclocking your video card?

Very, very few games are CPU limited, doubly so on a laptop. Tweak your video card first, see what that gets you.
