Alrighty, I feel really dumb that I'm having problems with this, and I'm not sure why.

    This is my hard drive:
    http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.j...a74c010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD&locale=en-US#

This is a picture of the drive's connection into the laptop (it just turns upside down from what's in the picture and fits right into the tray and connection grooves):

This is the enclosure kit I bought:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817392009

The connection on the kit is definitely SATA, but it's not even close to what the drive seems to want (the kit indicates that the drive slides forward into the connection, whereas the laptop/drive indicates the drive slides down into the connection).

What am I doing wrong that this drive and kit won't go together? I can provide more pictures if necessary. Thanks in advance for any help, and again yes I feel dumb that I can't do this simple thing :p

The drive should slide down into the enclosure..push it down, don't force it and it should pop right in..

There's nothing for it to pop into though. Here's a picture of the drive on the hard drive tray:
    http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/3033/drive2tc2.jpg

The tray's connector is much smaller than the pins, and looks like the drive should slide forward into them, whereas in the laptop it was it was like you described, push down into the tray. There's just uh, nothing to connect the two on here unless I"m missing something.

when i installed my 2.5' enclosure, there was a steel frame on the harddrive that I had to take off. After i took that frame off, it slid into the enclosure perfectly.

Ahh I thought you took it off already lol

I guess that would explain it, the casing connection looked flat from the picture's angle.

    So it works now?

Ah here we go. Once the frame was off, I could see that the weird connector was an adapter for the laptop connection. Took that off as well, and it's now obvious how it connects.

    Thanks!
