    Okay I just bought a Mascool 2.5 enclosure for my old 2.5 drive. Well I plug it in and here static through my speakers, and the computer shuts down. Could it be a bad unit or perhaps is something not installed correctly on my new xp pro install?

    Can you try it on a different usb port or on another computer?

    I tried it on my desktop and get a USB power surge on port message. HMM seems like its bad neww outta the box
