250 GB 7200 RPM drives are on the cards.. Maybe in about 6 months or so, they'll become standard. I remember reading somewhere that it'd be a single platter offering......

I really see manufactures move away from "normal" or conventional HDs as Solid State ones roll out, so I don't think they'll be out for quite some time

Flash based memory is most likely the next thing manufacturers will focus on. The main advantage is that they don't have any moving parts, which is somethng that the compiter will welcome, and as the development continues, transfer rates will increase and they will eventually get to the point where they can be bought for a much cheaper price. But before that happens, companies need to invest into them.

Samsung have posted full details of a couple of their imminent models here. The HM250JI is 250GB 0.5mm high and 5400RPM. The HM160HI is 160GB 5400RPM on a single platter. However, I can see no mention of their 7200RPM HDD which was also announced recently. While there, you might want to look at their Fusion hybrid drives with 256MB RAM on board.

Visit Span for the 160GB 7200rpm. However, there's a massive price premium. Span has the best selection of HDDs in UK but doesn't stock Samsung. I got my 160GB 5400RPM Samsung HDD from PC Nextday.

. £120 seems a fair price-what do you guys think? I might just eventually settle for a (much?) cheaper 100/120 GB @7200 rpm HD. Hmm choices.
Oh I almost forgot. Will that HDD in that link work with a HP nc8430? I don't even know what interface my notebook is
EDIT: nevermind, its SATA
