23-24" Monitor (MVA preferred)

EDIT2: I will also consider a 32" or so 1080p television for $300. I will mount it on the wall above my desk/piano.

Please, I need to buy a monitor tomorrow!

The main use, aside from everyday tasks, will be movies and Adobe Illustrator. I would prefer something like an MVA with great blacks and great contrast but without blinding whites. Whites are great, and I need a bright screen, but my E6520 gives me a bit of a headache sometimes.

This would probably be my top pick. Any other comparable monitors? I can do TN or IPS, or any other technology.

EDIT: 1200p preferred, and under $300.

 

How about this Samsung? It's an MVA, but only 1080p. I don't think you'll get 1200p for $300 unless you want to go used, perhaps on BF someone will have a deal. I have two Samsung 2333Ts on my desktop. They're PVA LCDs and quite excellent.

I have the 24" MVA (ML249H) version of the monitor which is $10 more than the ML239H. The asus lacks any VESA mounts, so it wont be ideal if you plan on mounting the monitor on your wall. Otherwise, for the price these ML series are hard to complain. Most similar IPS/eIPS monitors are usually over $200.

 

Cool. Are you happy with it (colours, black/white levels, stand, etc)?

I will go to my local computer shop today, and if I am not impressed with any of the ~150 TN panels, I will order this from newegg.

Considering this will be on the wall, it could be a good fit for you.

But just thinking that it is only 1080p and 28" makes me see the pixels in the text it will display - let alone in images.

For the price ($229) it is worth trying - but I would buy this only with a no-fee return policy on a 'try to buy' basis only.

It is 1200p, not 1080p, so 11% more pixels.

I am not too worried about seeing the pixels, I used to have a 55" TV that was only 1080i, and I would sit 6 feet from it. 1360x768 panels that are 15.6" have about the same pixel density as this TV would have...

I might not have the luxury of a no-fee return, but I will check it out in the store first.

 

Are you sure it is 1200p? Link says 1080p...
