    Hi there,

my laptop just got stolen and I'm looking to buy a new one. I had one with a Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT graphics card 4GB ram and around 2Ghz processor. I don't use the laptop for gaming however but watch films and watch tv online through a 24" monitor I connect via VGA. My first laptop could not play a DVD in full screen the graphics card was so bad, hence my jump up on my last laptop. Now the robber has left me poor its left me wondering if I need such a good graphics card so I was wondering...

what graphics card do I need to watch online tv and dvds smoothly on a 24" monitor?

    Thanks for any help :D

Any dual core should be fine, even with cheap IGP graphics.

Yes Core i3 should be sufficient. They are hyperthreaded dual cores, so 4 threads and they have IGP on the CPU die.

They would work very well--the Core i3's integrated graphics are plenty powerful enough to power even 1080p content on a 24" monitor.

I would suggest that you look for a laptop that has a digital video output (HDMI or DisplayPort) so you can connect your laptop to your monitor with a better-quality digitla connection.
