Hi, I am getting a Lenovo y410p and am thinking of putting in a 250 gig ssd in place of the main harddrive. [it doesn't have ngff or msata port]
I am a student so I kind have a tight budget but I would like to have 250 gig instead of 120, because it's just a difference of $50~90 and I get 1 gig per $1.
I will be using the laptop for webbrowsing and gaming, I won't run any complex 3d video editing etc.
I see three options
crucial m500 240gig for CAD 150
Buy the Crucial M500 Series 240GB SSD at TigerDirect.ca
Samsung evo 250gig for CAD 190
Buy the Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD at TigerDirect.ca
Corsair Neutron GTX 250gig for CAD 210
Newegg.ca - Corsair Neutron Series GTX CSSD-N240GBGTXB-BK 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
is there any real life performance or reliability difference, or should I just save the $40 and get the crucial m500?

Go with the Samsung.

I'd get the crucial. My M4 is still going strong.

Another vote for Samsung Evo.

Crucial or Samsung would be safe bets to go with. I still haven't found any decent reading material on LAMD controller reliability to justify recommending one.

Hi,
I just went from a Samsung 830 256 GB to a 960 GB M500. I think the 830 was faster than the M500 so the EVO should be faster. The M500 was about £90 less than an EVO 1TB so I got that. I don’t think there will be much difference but it does take longer to load things like VM's (only 2-3 seconds).
250 ssd as primary OS
