I'm trying to upgrade the hard drive on my HP Pavilion DV2500T. I purchased it a couple of months ago with a 160GB hard drive before they offered it with the 250GB. I want to put a 250GB hard drive in it. I have already purchased a WD2500BEVS Serial ATA150 drive and found it not to fit. Also, I can tell you that the hard drive that comes in the notebook is a Seagate Momentous 5400.3 model number ST9160821AS. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is there any caddy or connector adaptor which you need to remove from the old HDD and transfer to the new one?

I am 100% sure that the two bare drives are the same size. I've got the WD2500BEVS and it has fitted OK in the two notebooks I have tried.

I also plan on doing this because (at the moment) I have a lowly 80gb thats nearing capacity. Can someone point possibly point me to a tutorial on reinstalling vista on that new HD? I have done it with XP on a desktop, but I am nervous doing this with vista and on a laptop.

I sort of looked for an adaptor or fitting type thing, but didn't see one. Maybe I should take a closer look. If anyone else has my model/make of notebook and knows more info, please let me know.

    Thanks for the quick response!
