    Gaming performace-wise = no difference
    Benchmarks performace-wise = x1600 just a bit

Either would be good. I seriously doubt you would notice the difference between them.

7600 is 128-bit on the memory side..
I'd say choose the X1600. ATi is better than NVidia most of the time.

But I'll choose Alienware than acer though because 8200 has alot of minor cons , you can read the review on this site

?! all I heard is Geforce Go 7600 has better performace (3dmark) than X1600 but maybe I get it all wrong.

Does X1600 is better than Geforce Go 7600 really??

It depends on the game in this case. Some will work better with nVidia, some better with ATI. Overall performance will be very similar.

Something else to keep in mind. The X1600 can utilise HyperMemory to take it's RAM up to 512MB, while the go7600 can't go any higher than it's supplied dedicated RAM. Won't be an issue on current games, but may limit you with future titles.

ATI cards generally perform better in Direct3D applications/games (eg Half-Life 2). NVIDIA excels at OpenGL (Prey, Quake 4).

    They're both a toss-up, but I personally prefer NVIDIA because I can't stand ATI's Catalyst Control Center.

You don't have to install that if you don't want; I don't because I dislike it as well.

Yeah i would avoid alienware, they have been getting a lot of bad press from unhappy users, just read the alienware section on this forum - loads of people complaining of bad build quality, awfull customer service etc etc.... infact id skip those two makes alltogether and go with something likethe hp nc8430
