Not sure if you've seen this or not.. but WOW!!

I did see that, the scary part is according to DailyTech, it costs well above 1000$.
-
Ooooh I want that!
How long would something like that be expected to last?
And in what situations would it be slower than a conventional 7200 rpm hd? -
I've heard writing to SSD is slow but drive access is through the roof!!
Cost will be a major issue for most people, but for anyone with that sort of money to spend.... bragging rights ahoy -
Well the price is high, but if the thing won't last more than a couple of years and performance isn't great, it's certainly not worth buying...
-
the price actually is quite "low" considering a 32GB SSD is a $580 option in my current laptop's purchase price. matter of fact, thats almost a steal at 8X the capacity.
As far as life cycles go, SSDs are actually rate at having a MUCH higher life cycle than their regular HDD counterparts due to no moving parts and zero heat output and is aboslutely silent as well as no defragmentation needed.
There are articles on web sites comparing it to regular hard drives in terms of speed, reliability and longivity.
256gb Ssd!
