what are the benefits/faults of turning off virtual ram when i have 2gb of ddr2ram
-
Benefits: You save some HD space.
Problems: You're screwed if your system ever needs more than 2GB memory combined, for all running processes.
On the whole, it's not worth it. You do not get better performance or anything. -
You might save a little bit of HD space and speed because it will not be fragmented. I turned off my swap file but I'm not sure why I did or if it will even help. I wouldn't worry about it.

keep in mind some apps just want to have a swap space. once you get into the 2gb range of ram though, i would say set aside a constant sized swap partition of 256 or 512mb. it doesn't hurt and could potentially save a headache in the future.

I say keep the virtual memory on. There is no harm just in case you go over 2gb.
2gb of Ram = turn off Virtual Ram?
