    Hi guyz,

I just got 2nd hdd cady for my HP laptop. I removed CD rom and inserted SSD.

So I've win7 running on SSD in cd-rom.

And have normal 500GB HDD in it's place, with win7 and ubuntu on it.

On both disks windows loads fine. But through SSD I get annoying restart msg every time I turn it on!

    Any ideas what to do?

Another question: will it change something (speed) if I put OS drive on cd rom sata or main HDD sata?

I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but I'd recommend that your SSD be the drive with the OS on it and that it also be the drive in the main HDD bay. The 500GB HDD should be the one in the ODD caddy.

I see, and I wanted to do this way originally. But 500GB hd has no cover, and it has strange frame attached to it that makes it stick exactly in it's place. When I try to put SSD same place there is some space and it moves around. It's impossible to change frame from 500GB hdd to SSD.

That's why I put it into cady and left normal hdd in it's own place.

btw, error disappeared by itself :S

All you need is little Phillips screwdriver to unscrew 4 screws, take off that HDD case, put it on SSD, screw it and put inside main drive slot.

    What's your HP model?

Yeah, you just have to remove the bracket from the HDD and put it on the SSD.

If you don't think that is possible, please provide us with photos so we can help.

I tried this is impossible. Cause HDD has metal cover removed, so bracket acts as a type of cover. SSD is taller than bare HDD so bracket doesn't feed. I have to disassemble SSD to make it fit the bracket - I don't want to do this for obvious warranty issues.

You are correct. You'll have to disassemble the SSD to make it fit.

Ok, have you gone into BIOS and set the boot order to the Optical Bay as the first? It should be a workaround.

yeah, but guyz it works now perfectly... I had to do 3 restarts, and after that no more reboot screen.

And yes I've set cd-rom as boot device as first, and it works like charm :) I even have ubuntu on the HDD, and I can boot it too by selecting boot from internal hard drive.

    all good.

    thanks for support! :)
