    Hello:
I have a Toshiba Satellite A205 with 1 gig RAM, 120 gb HD, Core Duo 1.86, Vista Premium. I've had this laptop for 2 months now and I'm very happy with it. My HD is almost full and I realized that I have an extra HD bay. While looking at some reviews I found that all Satellites A205 have the extra bay but not all have the connectors for a second HD. Mine doesn't have the connectors and I think this really sucks because i could really use the extra space that a second HD will provide.

My question is: Is there any way that a second HD could be installed in my laptop? Is it just about adding the connectors needed? is the motherboard even "wired?" to allow a second HD?

Thank you for your time any help will be appreciated

Here is a pic i found that shows the extra bay

There is most likely a cable which takes the connection from the rear of the hard disk to a seperate connecotr on the motherboard somewhere. Other larger, 17" hard disks had this sort of set up, and I imagine it the same with the A205. Ask Toshiba if they can supply you with a kit, and if not, ask them where else you might be able to get it.

You could also buy an external drive to dump some of your data into like a repository and pull what you need when you need it. That's why I do with my setup.

I have a similar Toshiba -- the A200 series. The cover for the second (and empty) HD bay will not come off, despite removing the only two screws which visibly hold it. It is like there is another screw or something inside which is holding it in place -- perhaps Toshiba did this to prevent users from using this bay if it did not come factory-equipped with a 2nd HD.
Does anyone know how to remove this cover for the empty 2nd bay?
