I am looking to upgrade my ram pretty soon. Both the Corsair XMS and the Transcend are about the same price. The reason why I would go with the 2x512mb is the low latency. The Corsair XMS DDR333 has a CL of 2.0 while the Transcend has a CL of 2.5. Any thoughts on whether to choose one or the other besides getting the 1x1024mb so I can upgrade to 2gigs later down the line? This is for a Sony A270.

If you really want to be that future-proofed, go for the 1gb stick, but you will take a performance hit in the meantime.

Realistically, the difference between CL2.0 and CL2.5 is hardly measurable, let alone noticable. I only got 1.6% faster performance running CL2.0 memory.

1.6% greater bandwidth as measured by SISoft Sandra.

It also bumped up my pi_test results by about the same margin.
