When connecting to my 46" LED TV, I can definitely tell the difference between analog and digital inputs.
DVI and HDMI have essentially the same specs (they're electrically compatible), with the latter supporting audio over the same cable, so there is no quality difference.

Oh I see. I might give it a try then. I do notice that with some older dvd movies, I can see imperfections in the quality of the video with a larger monitor. Maybe DVI might help a bit.

Thanks for your help.
I can't connect with VGA. My Notebook has VGA and HDMI output, but my HP screen only DVI and Displayport. And I read, that there is no VGA -> DVI or VGA -> Displayport Adapter.
Any other ideas or am I the stupid guy, who bought a 30'' screen, but can't use it. -
Just caught the last page here on this thread, gotta go right now, but in your case, investigate whether a docking station might add capability for a DVI-D port. 30" monitors need the 'D'/dual DVI port, not just a DVI-I, cuz of the added resolution.
And, of course, spec out your video card to make sure it can handle the extra pixels.
I have some Lenovo Z61p units that are quite nice for casual stuff, but don't have the goodies to drive a 30" monitor...wanted it, but not to be... -
You can get a HDMI to DVD-D addapter but if you only have HDMI 1.2 you will get too 1920x1200 only. If the laptop has HDMI 1.3 or above you could get up too 2560x1600 if the internal card of the laptop supports that res.
30 inch HP monitor. What do you think?
