Sorry if this is a dumb question...but is the C2D 1.8GHZ 32-bit? What about the T7200 C2D 2.0GHZ? I ask because I need to make the choice between these two processors. The 2.0GHZ is $100 more. I know from reading the actual difference is small -- but I'm interested in what is 64-bit because I eventually want to upgrade to Windows Vista (with all the features of Aero, etc). Thanks!

Both of those are 64-bit Processors.

Core 2 Duo means 64 bit aka Meron.

Core Duo means 32 bit aka Conroe.

    Correction: Yonah, not Conroe.

You don't need 64 bit for Vista *or* Aero, but in any case, the above is correct. Core 2 Duo/Conroe/Merom supports 64 bit, Core Duo/Yonah does not.

I have Vista x64 Ultimate on my desktop and Vista x86 Ultimate on my laptop. They both perform equally well and I didn't notice any huge performace difference b/w the two platforms.
