you are definitely reading that right...those 8 gig sticks are very expensive

so 2x8 gig for $379, or 4x8 for $758. Its outrageous

But you already have 8 gigs of ram...do you really need more?

Actually, it seems real cheap considering HP's configurator for the Elitebook 8760w quotes $7,900 for 4 8gb sticks. The Crucial listing for the same is 408 for each kit of 2 8gb sticks, or $816 for 4 sticks - 32gbs.

I'm buying a new 8760w and running VMWare Workstation - the more RAM the less memory-swapping when switching between 4gb virtual machines. With 32, I could leave 8 gigs in the base machine and run 3 4 gig VM's or even 3 8 gig VM's.

Hmm, the Corsair sticks seem to be cheaper.

Try newegg, they sell 1 8gb dimm for $91.

32GB for $340 definitely seems like the better deal. But Fry's has a household limit, so it'd be $360 from Newegg.

    I'll probably upgrade to 32GB once I get a P150HM/P150EM.

exactly, it's outrageous what these companies charge for upgrades, I see 8gb sticks retail for about the same as two 4gb sticks @1600mhz.
