I have a Radeon HD3650 Mobility in my laptop. With the latest games coming out, all seem to have Radeon X1800s as their recommended spec.
My question is this: does my 3650 measure up to the 1800 in terms of power? If not, what does it measure up to in terms of a desktop video card?

Looks like both are class2 , but x1800 is better.

Raw performance may tip on X1800, but 3650 is two generations a head.
X1800 is on 90nm, where as 3650 is on 55/65nm, so will use less power; newer video decording technology allower more codec decoding on 3650, while supporting DirectX 10.1 standard. If you get X1800, the chances are- wont be anymore new drivers, cos its pretty much discontinued model. -
It's like HD 2600 Pro in desktops checking the 3Dmark`06 results (correct me if I'm wrong)

You should be fine with the 3650M. It can play most current games at WXGA+ at medium to high settings at playable settings, depending on the game.
I can play Bioshock with max settings at WXGA+, Mass Effect with all graphics features enabled at WXGA+, Halo PC maxed, Age of Empires 3 maxed at WSXGA+ as well as a few other old FPS's maxed. -
Thanks for all your replies, I really do appreciate it
I've noticed GTAIV requires an X1900 as it's minimum. Seeing as how a mobility X1800 is better than my 3650, it's a wonder I can play the game with decent FPS on medium settings.
Dammit, I wish ATI and Nvidia would just use a sane naming scheme for their cards.
How many more years do you think I've got left in my 3650? -
