Is 3-D Bluray the same format as 2-D Bluray?

Would a graphic card that satisfy 2-D Bluray not able to handle
3-D Bluray? Is 3-D Bluray that much more graphic intensive?

Any idea when the first 3-D Bluray notebook will come out?

    Thanks.

toshiba, asus and sager have 3d bluray laptops
i dont know what you mean exactly by 2-d bluray but if you are referring to normal bluray then 3d bluray is different, for 3d you will need 3d glasses and a special (120hz?) screen for the 3d effect.

do you know any specific models from toshiba or asus?

I apologize for the confusion as I am new to the standard. What I mean 2-d bluray is normal bluray.

Yes i understand the special requirement for viewing 3D.
However, my question is more directed at the graphic card requirement let say for playing or rendering 3-D bluray. Is it a lot more graphic intensive that make the requirement for playing the 3-D format?

For example, let say I have integrated graphic card with >2GHz Core 2 duo for the processor laptop. Would I be able to play 3-D format thru the HDMI to a 3-D HDTV? How about an older quad core intel with 512MB Nvidia graphic card? Would that be sufficient?

Asus G51J 3D Blu Ray laptop
    toshiba a665
i think both have the an nvidia discrete gpu

if you want to play through a 3d hdtv you will still need a discrete gpu and a program that supports 3d bluray playback like total media theatre 3 platinum or powerdvd 10.
