    Hi guys,

I'm looking to purchase a laptop for college, and I am on a strict budget. However, there's a sale going on and the 4810M is priced at $35 above the 4710M. Do you think the extra 35 is going to make a significant difference over ~4 years?

    Thanks.

I've already answered that specific question for you in your other thread. ;)

Well, you can get more opinions, but if they are different than mine, they don't count. :) :) :)

Are you really asking bro? offcourse go for the 4810MQ, every MHz. counts and for $35 it's a non brainer!

PS: My 4810MQ can easily overclock to 4GHz with stock cooling as well. Without overclocking using its Turbo Boost, it goes up to 3.8 GHz.

Get the 4810MQ... For $35 more its a no brainer.. I don't even know why you'd not get it for that price... I have to pay £60 ($90++) to get it here...

3.8GHz on one core only. 3.6GHz on 4 cores.

But yes, 4-core turbo is 4GHz and that's the highest it can OC (4.1GHz on 2 cores and 4.2GHz on 1 core as well).

Also, OP, $35 for that upgrade is again a no-brainer XD.

Manages the processor 4gh, then the processor will run all the games that will be launched without being a bottleneck.

    i7-4710MQ is a bottleneck with 980M so 4810MQ FTW...

3.3GHz versus 4GHz (stock 4710MQ vs max OC 4810MQ) is a bottleneck in about 5% of VERY new and VERY demanding games. In the spectrum of all games out there, well under 0.1% of games are bottlenecked by it.

It's better to get the 4810MQ, but it's not like 300MHz (3.3 to 3.6) is going to mean the difference between running one game and not running one game.

Holy sweet mother of Jesus for the last time people 4710HQ will NOT bottleneck a single 980M!!

    But OP $35 for 4810MQ is no-brainer. /thread

Neither will bottleneck a 980M, but $35 for an extra 500 MHz is not a bad deal. I'd take it too.

    Edit: LOL ninja'ed.

There are not many reasonable updates you get for only $ 35. And all fps count in games.
