Does anyone know when they will start selling 4gb ddr2 sticks for laptops? The laptop I have just bought, HP Dv5T, has memory expandable to 8gb. I have 3gb in it right now and I'm probably gonna want to upgrade to 6gb in the near future. Thanks for the help!

    I don't know if the DV5t supports 8GB (DDR2-800) or not !! ATM, DDR2-667 modules are available. G.Skill 4GB Modules are cheap. (No 4GB DDR2-800 modules available yet !!)

    I haven't seen any 800 MHz (PC2 6400) yet, and I don't think you want to put the 667 MHz (PC2 5300) in?

EDIT: Andy, you're too fast. :p

DV5t has a GM/PM45 chipset, which can physically support upto 8GB DDR2-800. 6GB is worth a try. (BTW, a 64-Bit OS is necessary)....

It uses DDR2, and it definitely can hold a maximum of 8gb. Also I would definitely be looking for 800 MHz I don't want to get slow memory :)

    Edit: I have 64 bit Vista :)

What are you using 8GB for? It's not really necessary at the moment...

I'm not planning on upgrading right now. Probably in the near future, like 6+ months or even over a year, just wondering what is available right now and at what price. Thanks for the info everyone :)
