Im going to buy some new ram. Should i even bother getting 2x 2GB or just get 1x 2GB and 1x 1GB.

Is it worth the extra 12 bucks its would cost, or will it not ever be of benefit.

In the future i will upgrade to Vista, but right now im still on XP and 1GB just isnt cutting it anymore

$12, I would get 4GB. 3GB will work fine but with 4GB you may be able to use 3.2GB and gain about 3% increase in bandwidth. I assume you have an Intel?

If it's a $12 difference, definitely go with 4GB, especially if you plan on upgrading to Vista.

4 GB ? but i thot for 32-bit 2GB is more than enough.... & 4 GB isnt even Read on 32-bit OS as the data channel is too narrow..

If i create Gaming server how much is needed to support 30 players?

It is not the DATA channel that is the bottleneck. It is the amount of addressable memory. 32bit has a 4GB max and some hardware uses those so it leaves less for the RAM about 3GB's. More is always better 3 is about Max but he will get "true" dual channel on what the OS can see and it only costs $12.

    Honestly, it's $12. It shouldn't even be a question.

12$ Are you kidding me? You would be future proof for a future 64bit os. Heck, that .2 from the 3.2GB that Vista would read is worth 12$ :)

Definitely 4GB. If you go with 3GB, it will cost you a lot more than $12 if you decide you want another gig since the 1GB module will have to come out to make room for a 2GB. Do it right the first time, especially if it's only $12. Give up eating out once or twice.

OK, well then here is the second question. it would only be an extra $12 if i get 2 mail in rebates to go through (1 for each chip). Has anyone done this before with newegg? can i just buy them as 2 seperate orders, or should i have someone else buy the other one just to be safe?

And is Corsair "value select" ram any cheaper or less quality than the other brands? adata, ocz, mushkin, etc?

2nd question, all the same. 1st question read the terms of the rebate. Might say only one per household, if so get a friend. Read the terms.

"Only one rebate per qualifying purchase and litmit one rebate per product per household."

Does that sound like i can buy 2 in the same order and just do the rebates for 2 different addresses?

    Seperate the orders.
