Going to purchase a new sager-laptop(m860) 1st of august, and thinking about what options togo for with the ram-modules.
Currently, they cant offer more then 4GB of DDR3, which is obvious since the laptop only has 2 slots (which lap's doesnt?) and there havent been any 4GB release afaik.

Now, ive heard that 4GB's are being made pretty much as we speak and they will be avalible any day from the generall brands, corsair, kingston etc etc.

Anyone know more of this? Anyone seen em in stores for preorder yet, and most important im wondering if they will be avalible in DDR3 right away, and not just DDR2.

    Edit:
Even if they wont be released untill say middle of august or so, I can still just order the laptop with standard 1gb or ram and later purchase myself 4x2 or 4+2 or simliar, saves me time for waiting untill kobalt get's em in stock, and probably some money to.
Just that I dont wanto be sitting with gimped ram for to long, so if there is still alot of time togo, then ill just go with 4GB for now and upgrade later.

Well, I will go with 4GB DDR3 from the manufacturer for now, and just replace 1 2GB-stick with 1 4GB-stick later, when its avalible for a decent price.
I hafto learn howto compile my own linux-kernel to before I can use the extra ram so, not like im in any rush to get it ;-)

I worked for Pro-star who are also a distributor for Clevo notebook.

Sager NP8660 is the same as Clevo M860TU. You will not see 4GB x 1 dimm very soon in the market. Clevo M860TU is using DDR3 memory. The 4 GB memory is still staying at 667MHz DDR2. I really doubt we can see a 4GB on 1033MHz DDR3 in a few month.

Do not buy DDR2 memory, it will not work on Clevo M860TU. Gurkburk's recommendation is good, buying a 2x2GB is a good idea, so you can change one to 4GB for a total of 6GB.

I think the Windows Vista 64 Bit O.S. will limit the maximum usage of memory to 6.8 GB.

Correct Andy but did you see Onesueh post? I do think he is correct so it trumps Vista. A chipset limitation. :)

Chipset Limitation - I've seen this on both the NP9262 (P965) and the NP8660 (PM45).
But I guess the P965 can fully address 8GB.

Frank, we wont have 128gb in laptops for many more years to come.

4Gb Dimms even for DDR2 are a complete rip off. In a few months when 6 and 8gb become more common prices will drop

NBR just isnt the same without PP :(
