    Hello everyone,

I just got Assassin's Creed for my laptop and apparently my 2gbs of RAM isn't enough. I'm looking to upgrade to 4gbs (2x2gb). What speed to you think is sufficient? DDR3 1066 or 1333?

I have a HP Compaq Pavilion dv6700t Series Laptop. Crucial recommends DDR2 666, but my friend says it's a bit slow. But then I read 1333 may not even have any effect...

    Currently considering the following:

    $68 2x2GB DDR3 -1333
    http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10008950&prodlist=froogle

    $54 After MIR 2x2GB DDR3 - 1066

    Thanks for the help people!

Get the 1066. The 1333 will not improve any performance.

Download CPU-z and find out what type of RAM your laptop has. It is not possible to 'upgrade' from DDR2 to DDR3. Also, what is the model of your laptop's video card?

I bet you have the PM965 chipset.
So you cant use DDR3 memory as mentioned.
also the maximum speed of the ram is 667mhz if you have the PM965 chipset.

You can buy some 800mhz DDR2 ram but it will run at 667mhz with the PM965 chipset.

Your laptop appears to use DDR2, you cannot upgrade to DDR3.

You can, however, install up to 4GB of RAM no problem. But you need to install a 64bit OS to get access to all of it.

The dv6700 series uses DDR2-667. The best graphics card that was available for the dv6700 was the 8400m GS which will struggle on Assassin's Creed regardless of RAM.

    Ugh, let's see... CPU-Z says...

    AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-60 Processor
NVIDIA GeForce 7150M/nForce 630M Graphics Card (Oh wow. It does suck.)
    2 GB DDR2 160 mHz.
Chipset: Nvidia nForce 560 Rev. A2

Not PM965, but do I still stick with DDR2-667?

And this was a new computer <.< Old, but unopened.

    Thanks everyone

Ya, this is why isn't not running well. No amount of RAM is going to save you from that, so I wouldn't even bother. Save that money for a new rig down the road.

If you upgrade go with 800mhz DDR2 ram.
I'm not 100%sure about if your chipset will be able to run it at 800mhz.
But still there isn't a big price difference between 667mhz and 800mhz.

    Take the 800mhz ram.

I really wanna play this game..

Any suggestions on good offers for laptops price range less than $1300?
Preferably roughly 15 inches or less. Also don't really care if it's used, as long as it's in like new condition.

    Thanks :D
