What would happen if i use ready boost with 4+GB? Will there be a increase in gaming or everyday tasks? I was thinking about having this config:
    -4GB ram
    -4+GB ready boost
    -1+GB Intel turbo card

Would doing this be a waste of time

Doubt you will see a difference in performance... if you're planning on purchasing it, I would save your money.

Waste of time on both readyboost and intel turbo card.

Infact intel turbo card does almost nothing in all cases. Readyboost was meant for systems with low ram, otherwise you'll see no performance difference at all.

Stick to 4gb ram or move up to 8gb.

I believe you can't use both readyboost and an intel turbo card at the same time.
You would have to choose only one of those. I would go for the turbo card but you shouldn't see much of a performence increase.

It'll make a bit of difference. No matter how much ram you have, you'll still use page file. When files are paged out from the ram, it stores a copy of it in the flash memory. When the computer needs small chunks of data, it'll get it from the flash storage instead.

What I would suggest is to try out a program called eboostr. Use the program to cache your turbo memory and flash memory instead. You'll notice probably 10-50x performance improvement in some situations. E.g. you open your "my music" folder. Say you have 500 folders, without eboostr, it takes 15 seconds to load all of them with album arts preview..etc, with eboostr, it's instant.
Eg. photoshop starts in 25 seconds without eboostr, 10 seconds with eboostr.

My laptop has a 4Gb ram limit, would it be possible for it to recognize more than 4GB?

8GB ram is limited by two things.

Hardware and OS. I'm not sure if the vostro 1500 maxes out at 4GB or not, but if it isn't and you have a 64bit OS, you can get 8GB kits of ddr2 for around 300.

I would look at what kind of tasks you're doing before upgrading ram beyond 4GB.

I dont go beyond 40% ram usage based on task manager.

I would save your cash then.

Really 8GB is only needed if you do video/3d work. From my experience at least.

I use it all the time, I don't really see an increase of performance though.

I myself use a regular Sony USB drive with 8 gigs of memory, Using it for readyboost with 4 gig.

According to Les, taking out the pagefile w/ 4GB of RAM helps performance. I don't have a pagefile even with 3GB and have noticed no issues without running a pagefile. Since memory is so much faster than even flash memory, I would not bother having readyboost or turbo memory. Their current implentation is only good in theory and translates to negligible performance boost for those with 4GB of memory.
