i just got home ready to install my 4gb of ram in my hp expecting some perfromance difference. but when i installed it there was none.
the wei stay the same the 3dmark06 was lowered by 100 points this sucks.
my old ram was hyundai (not the car) 2gb of ddr2 667 5-5-5-? 2x1204
my new ram is G. skill 4gb of ddr2 4-4-4-12 2x2048
has anyone have a performance change who has changed out there ram or those who has 4gb of ram.?
p.s. tell me if this is normal

when i have 1gb in vista it uses 768
when i have 2gb in vista it uses 1200
and now this![]()
im trying xp now even though it is the x86 and it will only read 3.5gb of ram
the good news is now my turbo cache is 2048 even though i dont know how to utilize it

Vista RAM usage is proportional to the total RAM, it should use 600MB on a 1GB set up and 900MB on a 2GB set up. Don't panic, you have 4GB total and windows use 2GB, if you need let's say, 2.5GB of ram for 3rd party apps, Windows usage will drop to 1.2GB
According to the timings your new RAM would be 533mhz, versus your old 667mhz, witch can make a difference. Having more than 2GB is un-seable for everyday use imo. 3GB will show a difference in games, but going to 4 or more will only be usefull for heavy mutli-tasking or servers. -
