    I have a Notebook 2200t that has (2)256MB PC133 installed.

The system is only recognizing 192MB.

No matter how I configure the (2)256MB modules (ie using only 1-256 chip, swapping the 1 chip to either bank etc...), the system only shows 192MB

Why won't this system show/see the whole 512MB ram ?????

BTW, laptop is running XP Pro.

    TIA

My guess is that 64MB goes to the video memory . Which means only 256MB are missing , maybe a bad slot ?

I'd check what the bios reads and go from there .

Use CPU-Z as a 2nd check. What is your computer that could help.

Edit: sorry I see your computer I missed I will look. No I am not sorry who makes it? When I Google I get Navigation systems.

Ok....Checked out a few more things and here's what I've come up with.

    CPU-Z is a great little program! :)

#1) Yes, the Ram was being shared with the Video (via the BIOS). I changed it down to 8MB shared and the Ram went up to 248MB. That was cool.

#2) I had a couple of sticks of 128MB PC that I worked every conceivable configuration between them and the (2) 256MB sticks. Best I could come up with was 376MB total Ram.

No matter what configuration I tried, I could NOT get the (2) 256MB sticks to play nice together and obtain the rated 512MB.

The brand actually IS NOTEBOOK. Shows it right on the front cover. It is made by CLEVO.

Check it out here-->> http://www.clevo.com.tw/products/2200t.asp

So all 4 rams (2x256 and 2x128) work fine, and both slots work correct?

Do you have the latest bios?

In CPU-Z click the "SPD" tab, you can check what is in both slots. Are they reporting correct? I am suggesting this to rule out or identfy a bad stick.

    Yes, to all the above.

I'm not able to locate documentation as far as the limit of Ram on this laptop. :(

I did find a write up in a Ram check program that shows NOT all Ram reporting programs show the actual installed Ram. This does lead to confusion for sure! I've downloaded and tried a few and they are correct. I got conflicting information !!

That said, I believe it's most likely an incompatible stick of 256MB PC133 I have here.
