Lenovo has an offering now where I can get 1.5GB ram for the same price as 1.0gb ram. I'm hesitant to do it though because if I go 1.5GB don't I loose the advantage of the dual-channel feature that I'll get with 1.0GB ram? But more so, I honestly don't think I would use over 1.0GB of ram for anything, even when Vista comes out. My current system never complains and it only has 512MB.
What you all think?

well if its free get it. 1.5 gigs of ram is always better than 1 gig of ram no matter what. Dual channel is not noticible. And if it bothers you just take it out.

i think you are greatly overestimating the boost you get from dual channel.
more ram is always better -
When it comes to RAM, speed will be less important than capacity 99% of the time. You will get better performance with 1.5 GB even though it will not be in dual channel.
512mb ram free but then no dual-channel
