Hello,
I would like to know what will be better a 533 or 667 Mhz Ram for a i945 based notebook with a Core Duo or Core Duo 2 processor?
Thank you everybody![]()

667MHz is going to be faster.

In most cases fasteris better, so I would go with the 677MHz. I always try to get the fastest and or best performing hardware that I can afford.

I just have a P-M which can only take 553 MHz so I haven't really studied the difference between the two.

according to earlier posts on this forum, the difference between 667 and 533 is negligible.

DDR667 doesn't help much if you are using dedicated graphics. But with integrated graphics the performance benefit going from DDR533 to DDR667 is pretty significant. Because integrated graphics shares it memory with the main system memory and system memory is relatively slow compared to the memory found on graphics cards, integrated graphics cards need all the memory bandwidth they can get. It won't show up in CPU benchmarks, but if you test DD667 vs DDR533 in a game using integrated graphics there will be a half decent gap. Also latency for GPUs is a lot less important than bandwidth.

RogueMonk is right. When it comes down to it I would just try to match your processor FSB and your RAM speeds. So if your getting a core 2, its going to be 667. But in reality the difference is small.

its a double edged sword. The 667 is faster but the higher cas negates that. 533 is slower but has a lower cas. Performance wise the 667 will be faster, but how much you ask? So little that you wont really notice. Bnenchmarks (pcmark) will tell you that the 533 is better as it does a ram latency test. But in fact the 667 is slightly, and I mean slightly, faster. Either way you slice it it will get the job done.

Thank you all,
I have a better idea now
533 or 667 ?
