I've Centrino based laptop Acer TravelMate 4104WLMI DDR2 (also known as [4100 ddr2]
It has 512MB 533MHz stick installed by factory default.
I am thinking of buying a 2GB (2x1 GB Memory), but I was wondering if I can install 667MHZ ram modules instead of 533Mhz. What do you think ?
Will it work ?
BTW
My pc looks like this:
Pentium M 760 2GHz [2MB L2] [FSB 533MHz] [ Socket 479 mPGA] [Dothan]
Motherboard Type : Crane II [intel i915PM/GM] [rev. 03]
Southbridge : Intel 82801FBM (ICH6-M) [PCI-Express]
ATi Mobility Radeon X700 [64MB] [PCI-EXpress]
80GB IBM Travelstar [4200rpm] [8mb cache]
I am planing of using Vista for extensive periods of time, but I really can't decide of which memory type to use.
My motherboard chipset is

As your FSB runs at 553Mhz, there is no point getting 667Mhz, as it will downclock to 553Mhz. So, you should buy 553Mhz.
As long as you have two DIMM Ram slots, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to fit 2 x 1GB Modules. -
If the 667 is cheaper than the 533, get it.

it really is, 7$ cheaper.
I'll take 667. Thank you. -
Good Job!!!
