I have a I600D and am looking to increase my memory from its one 512mb 400mhz chip to 1GB total with a 512mb 400mhz chip or a 512mb 533mhz chip. Price is not the issue, and I will not be increasing the memory again in the future. If the speeds are mixed will it still go into dual mode, or would i be better off playing it safe and get another 400mhz chip.

I would play it safe and go with the PC3200 RAM. If there is a price difference up to the 533MHz, it would be a waste because it would just default back to the 400MHz speed.

Yeah, I'm with BigV - buy a similar-spec'd chip and forget about it. That's what I did with my T42.

I'd play it safe and get the 400MHz chip. When you are talking about DDR2, there's not a big nor noticable difference between 400MHz and 533MHz.
