Hello all,
I'm buying a new laptop, and was wondering if it's worth the 50 bucks to upgrade from 2gb of DDR2 SDRAM at 533mhz to 667mhz. Is the performance gain noticeable/worth the price?
Thanks

Not worth it. The increase in clock-frequensy is negated by slower latencies. So the performance difference is quite small.

The only thing 667 has on the 533 in the performance department is memory bandwidth for continual access. If one program is a severe memory hog then you might might might see a small difference.
So yeah, quantity before speed in this case. -
I have heard of low latency 667's coming out, it is worth checking out. You will probably pay a premium for those, but they will show significant improvement over the older 667 and 533's.

if they come out soon that is.
533mhz vs 667mhz in memory
